Indore, May 4 (HS). In view of the Lok Sabha elections in Indore, effective action is being taken by the Excise Department staff under the direction of Collector and District Election Officer Ashish Singh against those involved in illegal buying, selling, transportation and storage of liquor. In this series, 40 boxes of foreign liquor, which were being transported in a unique way in the loading vehicle pickup by covering them with cake sacks, were seized. The value of the seized material is Rs 11 lakh 35 thousand. In other proceedings, a total of 36 cases were registered and 369 liters of liquor and 2770 kg of Mahua Lahan were also seized.
Assistant Commissioner Excise Manish Khare said on Saturday that on receiving information from an informer during patrolling on Friday night, he stopped the Bolero pickup number MH-30, AB-3169 by blocking Rau intersection, then the driver got down from the car and ran away. After a long chase and a lot of effort, the accused was caught. Subsequently, when the vehicle was searched, 40 boxes of illicit liquor hidden behind sacks of cake were recovered, the total quantity of which was 352.8 bulk liters and the estimated value was Rs 3 lakh 35 thousand 200. Along with this, a pickup vehicle worth Rs 8 lakh which was being used in smuggling was also seized. During the action, the accused Narendra Kumar son of Vishnu Deora resident of Dwarka Puri near Prajapat Nagar Indore was arrested from the vehicle and a case has been registered under the Excise Act for collection and possession of illegal liquor.
During interrogation, accused Narendra Deora revealed that he was taking the liquor for one Sachin Yadav alias Sachin Shivhare, who was going to call him and tell him the address of delivery of liquor. Now Sachin Yadav is being searched on the statement of the driver. In other proceedings, a total of 36 cases have been registered and 369 liters of liquor and 2770 kg of Mahua Lahan have been seized, the estimated value of which is Rs 3 lakh 57 thousand 325. Effective actions of the Excise staff are continuing against the manufacturing, transportation, storage and sale of illegal liquor.
