Indore, 26 September (HS). Under the direction of Collector Ashish Singh and the guidance of Additional Collector Gaurav Benal, continuous action is being taken against those doing business of adulterated and fake food items in Indore district. In this connection, a major action was taken in Veer Savarkar Nagar by the joint team of Food Safety Administration on Thursday. More than five thousand liters of fake ghee (palm oil) has been seized from here.
Additional Collector Gaurav Benal said that the team conducted a surprise inspection of Sunny Enterprises in Veer Savarkar Nagar. Information was received regarding this establishment that fake ghee is being traded here. On the spot, one liter and 500 ml packets of palm oil and other vegetable oils with different names of Devashree brand like Ramdevam, Mangalshree, Balakrishna etc. of different packing, which looked exactly like ghee, were found stored for sale. When the said packet was opened and physically tested, it smelled exactly like ghee and looked like ghee.
No license for food business was also presented by the establishment operator Sunny Parmar. A total of five samples of the said food item, which looks and feels exactly like ghee, were taken and approximately 5520 liters of fake ghee (palm oil) was seized. The estimated value of the seized material is around Rs seven lakh. The samples taken are being sent to the State Food Testing Laboratory, Bhopal for testing, after which further legal action will be taken after the test report. It was told that such action will continue in future also.
