The shooting took place at the Children's Water Park in Rochester Hills. Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said the gunman hid in a nearby house after the shooting. According to Oakland County Police, the suspected gunman arrived at the Auburn splash pad in Rochester Hills around 5 p.m. on Saturday and got out of his vehicle and started firing indiscriminately. Sheriff Michael Bouchard said the attacker fired about 28 rounds from a 9mm semi-automatic Glock. A gun and three empty magazines were recovered from the scene. It is believed that this gun was used to fire the shots.
