Vikram Misri new Foreign Secretary: Senior diplomat Vikram Misri today took charge as India's new Foreign Secretary. Misri, a 1989 batch Indian Foreign Service officer, replaced Vinay Kwatra.

Born on 7 November 1964 in Srinagar, Vikram Misri is considered an expert on China affairs. Misri has taken over this important post at a time when India is facing various foreign policy challenges, including its tense relations with China after the East Ladakh border dispute. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on Twitter, “Vikram Misri took over as Foreign Secretary today. The Ministry of External Affairs team warmly welcomes Foreign Secretary Misri and wishes him a successful tenure.”
Has served as India's Ambassador to China
Let us tell you that Misri has previously served as Deputy National Security Advisor. He also has the rare distinction of serving as the personal secretary of three Prime Ministers, Inder Kumar Gujral, Manmohan Singh and Narendra Modi. Misri served as India's Ambassador to China from 2019-2021 before being appointed Deputy NSA.
