Forgetting their disappointing performance in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, the Indian women's cricket team will begin preparations for next year's ODI World Cup with a three-match series against world champions New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad from Thursday.

The captaincy of experienced Harmanpreet Kaur will also be at stake in the three-match series against New Zealand. Although Harmanpreet scored the most runs for India in the World Cup, she was criticized for the team's performance. The Indian team will start afresh and try to adjust the team combination keeping the ODI World Cup in mind. On the other hand, New Zealand team will enter the field to take their victory chariot forward. The match will start at 1:30 pm.

The New Zealand team performed brilliantly in the T20 World Cup. All its players are full of confidence and the entire team practiced vigorously in the heat on Wednesday afternoon. India's wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh will not play in this tournament as she has to appear for class 12th examination. Experienced all-rounder Asha Shobhana will also be unavailable due to injury. Fast bowler Pooja Vastrakar has been given rest in this pelvis due to injury during the World Cup.

Some new players like Tejal Hasbins, Saima Thakor and Priya Mishra have been given a chance in the Indian team. India's success in the series against New Zealand will largely depend on the opening pair of Shefali Verma and Smriti Mandhana. Keeping the upcoming World Cup in mind, both will have to regain their form. Harmanpreet and Jemimah Rodriguez will handle the middle order.
