India's 5 medals outweighed Pakistan's one gold, Arshad gave a double blow

Neeraj Chopra vs Arshad Nadeem Javelin Throw in Paris Olympics 2024: In the final event of 'Javelin Throw' at Paris Olympics 2024, Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan defeated Neeraj Chopra of India in a tough competition. Arshad threw the javelin 92.97 meters to win the gold and also holds the record for the longest javelin throw at the Olympics. Neeraj won the silver medal for India by throwing the javelin 89.45 meters. In this event, Anderson Peters of Grenada won the bronze medal by throwing the javelin 88.54 meters. In this way, Pakistan has won one gold medal as compared to the 5 medals won by India so far in the Paris Olympics.

When Neeraj Chopra threw the javelin in Paris at 11:45 pm on August 8, it was expected that he would give India its first Olympic gold, but Pakistani athlete Arshad Nadeem gave India a big shock by winning the gold medal with a record distance of 92.97 meters.

Pakistan ahead of India in medal tally

Pakistan, after winning one gold medal, is now at 53rd position in the medal tally (till 6 am on 9 August). Whereas India is 11 places below it at 64th position. In Paris Olympics, India has won 4 bronze medals including Neeraj's 1 silver. India got one bronze medal in hockey, while 3 bronze medals came in shooting.

That means Pakistan has more gold medals than India. Due to which Pakistan has reached above India in the medal tally. Arshad Nadeem has given a double blow by winning the medal. Along with dashing the hopes of crores of Indians, he also made a record in the Olympic Games and Pakistan overtook India in the medal tally.

Arshad's medal was Pakistan's first medal after the 1992 Olympics, before this the Pakistan hockey team had won a bronze medal in Barcelona. That is, through Arshad, Pakistan has managed to win a medal after 32 years. Arshad Nadeem became the first Pakistani player to win the first gold medal for his country in an individual event.

Arshad also set an Olympic record with a throw of 92.97 meters. Arshad broke the record of Norway's Andreas Thorkildsen. Andres set the record by throwing the javelin 90.57 meters at the Beijing Olympics on 23 August 2008.

Neeraj broke his own record

Neeraj had earlier won the gold medal by throwing 87.58 meters in the Tokyo Olympics. Despite throwing the javelin to a distance of 89.45 meters in Paris, he had to settle for the silver medal.

World record of 98.48 in javelin throw

The world record in javelin throw is held by a Czech athlete. Three-time world champion and Olympic champion, Czech veteran Jan Zelezny set the world record for the longest javelin throw in the men's category by throwing the javelin 98.48 meters during an athletics competition in Germany in 1996.
