The objective of these activities was to increase mutual cooperation between the navies of the two countries.

Indian Navy's leading stealth frigate INS Tabar arrived at Malaga Port, Spain on 25 August on a two-day visit to expand the existing bilateral relations between India and Spain. The warship is commanded by Captain MR Harish. Diplomatic relations between India and Spain were established in 1956 with the opening of the Spanish Embassy in New Delhi. With Spain having a vast coastline, India recognises its key role in maritime security and has been engaging with Spain through various creative and collaborative efforts.

The visit of INS Tabar is aimed at further strengthening these ties and exploring new opportunities to expand our maritime ties. The crew of the ship participated in a number of professional engagements with the Spanish Navy during its two-day stay. Before departing Malaga, the warship Tabar also participated in a naval exercise with Spanish Naval Ship Atalaya. These activities enhanced mutual cooperation between the two navies and enabled both sides to understand and imbibe each other's 'best practices'.

The Indian Navy is committed to fostering partnerships with navies around the world. INS Tabar is equipped with a versatile range of modern weapons and sensors. It is one of the Indian Navy's earliest stealth frigates, capable of evading radar. The ship is part of the Indian Navy's Sword Arm Fleet, serving in Mumbai under the Western Naval Command.
