The Indian stock market closed with a decline today, Friday 24 May. The market opened in the green zone in the morning. Midcap and smallcap stocks rose, but after the rise, the midcap and smallcap indices also closed flat. At the end of today's trading, the BSE Sensex closed with a marginal decline of 8 points at 75,410 and the National Stock Exchange's Nifty closed 11 points down at 22,957. At the beginning of today's session, the Sensex managed to cross 75,636 and the Nifty managed to cross the lifetime high of 23000 for the first time.
The market made an all-time high yesterday
Earlier, yesterday i.e. on 23 May, the stock market reached an all-time high. Sensex made a highest level of 75,499. Earlier, the Sensex reached a highest level of 75,124 on 9 April. While Nifty reached the level of 22,993. Earlier, the highest level of Nifty was 22,794.
Sector status
In today's trading, shares of banking, auto, media, energy and oil and gas sectors closed with gains. Whereas shares of sectors like healthcare, consumer durables, pharma, FMCG, metal, real estate closed with a decline.
