Indian Navy again achieved great success against pirates, forced 35 dacoits to surrender and saved the crew

New Delhi, March 17 (Hindustan Reporter) Indian Navy has once again achieved great success against pirates. Indian warship INS Kolkata forced all 35 pirates aboard a hijacked ship in the Arabian Sea to surrender. This operation of the Indian Navy lasted for about 40 hours.

Information related to this operation has been shared by the Indian Navy on social media platform X. In which it is told that INS Kolkata had surrounded the pirate ship Rouen, about 2600 km away from the Indian coast. In the operation, Marcos commandos of the Indian Navy were landed on the ship along with INS Subhadra and maritime patrol aircraft from C17 aircraft. This joint effort was successful in stopping the pirate ship. The robbers were asked to surrender immediately and release the hostages. 17 crew members from the hijacked ship MV Rouen were safely rescued in a 40-hour operation.

All the pirates are from Somalia and on December 14, these pirates had hijacked the MV Rouen ship to carry out the hijacking at sea. Indian Navy warships chased it on 15 March and during this the hijacked ship was fired upon. The Indian warship also retaliated as per international law.

Even before this, the Indian Navy has achieved many successes by continuously demonstrating its excellent capability in the matter of maritime security. Earlier this month, a robbery attempt on a ship carrying a crew of 11 Iranian and 8 Pakistani nationals was foiled off the east coast of Somalia. While in January, Indian warship INS Sumitra rescued 19 Pakistani crew of an Iranian-flagged ship after it was attacked by pirates off the east coast of Somalia. The Navy had foiled an attempt to hijack the Liberian flagged ship MV Leela Norfolk in the North Arabian Sea on January 05.
