Indian Medical Association elections in Kanpur next month, activities intensify | News India


Kanpur, 07 September (HS). The election process of the Kanpur unit of Indian Medical Association (IMA) has started and the preparations for the elections to be held next month have also intensified. The candidates have intensified their contact with the members i.e. doctor voters and the supporters are making all efforts to ensure the victory of their candidates. In this election, candidates will contest for only two posts, the candidates for the rest of the posts will be elected unopposed. In this election of IMA, the candidates for the posts of President and Secretary will face each other.

This time too, in the IMA Kanpur unit elections, Dr. Nandini Rastogi and senior surgeon Dr. Dinesh Sachan will face each other for the post of president. While the faces of the contenders for the post of secretary will have changed. This time Dr. Vikas Mishra and Dr. Pallavi Chaurasia have filed nominations for the post of secretary and Saturday was the last chance to file nominations. In the IMA Kanpur elections 2023, Nandini Rastogi got 704 votes, on the basis of which she was elected president. At the same time, Dr. Dinesh Sachan got 594 votes.

Apart from this, Dr. Kunal got 793 votes for the post of Secretary and his rival Dr. Major Purnima Dixit had to be satisfied with 438 votes. There are a total of 2300 voters in the Kanpur branch of IMA. In the last election, about 1300 voters exercised their franchise. Voting was done using EVM machines. Let us tell you that voting is being done using EVMs in IMA elections for the last 10 years. Saturday was the last day for nomination for the election. The time for withdrawal of nomination has been fixed till 10 September. However, it is believed that there is no candidate in both the posts who will agree to withdraw his name.
