Indian knowledge and yoga tradition is now universally and universally accepted.

Chief guest at the inaugural session of refresher course at Malviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, Deendayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University was Prof. Ishwar Sharan Vishwakarma, former Chairman, Uttar Pradesh Higher Education Service Commission, while throwing light on the theoretical aspect of Yoga, said that the Indian knowledge tradition is now accepted by all. UNESCO has accepted the Indian knowledge tradition and the Vedas. The study of Bhimbetka caves located in Madhya Pradesh of India proves the antiquity of India. Indian tradition is Rishi tradition. The four qualities of sages are truth, penance, virtue and renunciation. The land which researches these four qualities is India. Mahabharata mentions 556 sages who have saved humanity. The Rishi tradition itself is an example of the Yoga tradition. Yoga can answer who I am.

He further said that the history of Yoga can be known from the clay figurines and carved figures in coins found from the Indus Valley civilization, as well as from the arts and postures. There is no end to life in yoga. Yoga is always the opposite of violence and wishes for the welfare of all.

Presiding over the session, Vice Chancellor Prof. Throwing light on the importance of Yoga, Poonam Tandon said that if we want to avoid lifestyle diseases in today's busy life, we will have to adopt Yoga. All people of the society, especially teachers and students, should practice yoga regularly.

Dr. Yogesh Bhatt, senior yoga instructor from Kashi Hindu University, said that purification of body and mind is very important to stay healthy. For purification of the mind, one has to give up lust, anger, greed, pride and attachment, whereas for purification of the body, pranayam is very important. Pranayama purifies both body and mind. Referring to defecation, satisfaction and penance, he said that defecation means purity of both body and mind.
