Indian Hockey Team Paris Olympics 2024: The Indian hockey team won the bronze medal by defeating Spain in the Paris Olympics 2024. Earlier, the hockey team also won the bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics 2020. The Indian team defeated a strong team like Australia after 52 years in the Olympics. Goalkeeper PR Sreejesh, who was called the wall in the Indian hockey team, announced his retirement after the Paris Olympics. The hockey team bid farewell to its best player. Captain Harmanpreet Singh and the Indian hockey team were given a grand welcome at the Indira Gandhi International Airport with flower garlands and drums. Hockey India secretary Bholanath Singh said, “He (PR Sreejesh) deserved this (to be the flag bearer in the closing ceremony of the Olympics). If the Government of India and the Indian Olympic Committee give him this opportunity, Hockey India will thank them. Winning consecutive medals is a big achievement, but our goal was to play the final match. The referee's mistake of giving out Amit Rohidas cost us dearly. That's why we brought bronze. Otherwise the color of the medal would have been different.”
After 32 years he won medals twice in a row in the Olympics
The Indian hockey team defeated Spain 2-1 in the bronze medal match at the Paris Olympics. After 32 years, India has won two consecutive medals at the Olympics. Earlier, the Indian team had won two consecutive bronze medals at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics and the 1972 Munich Olympics.
