Hockey India has announced the 18-member Indian team for the Asian Champions Trophy to be held in China. Harmanpreet Singh will captain the team in the tournament. 10 players who won bronze medals in the Paris Olympics have been given a place in this team, while five players including Hardik Singh, Mandeep Singh, Lalit Upadhyay, Shamsher Singh and Gurjant Singh have been rested.

This tournament will be played in Hulunbuir, Mongolia from 8 to 17 September. India will play its first match against host China on 8 September. The Indian team is the defending champion of this tournament. The team won the title last year by defeating Malaysia in the final of the tournament. Therefore, the Indian team will enter the tournament to defend its title.

Indian hockey team's veteran goalkeeper PR Sreejesh retired after the Paris Olympics. Therefore, Krishna Bahadur Pathak and Suraj Karkera have been selected in place of Sreejesh for the role of goalkeeper in the team. The team has been selected to ensure a mix of experience and youth in the team. The Indian team will start its campaign with the first match against China on 8 September. After this, it will face Japan on 9 September and after a day's rest, it will face Malaysia on 11 September and Korea on 12 September. After a day's rest, India will face Pakistan on 14 September, while the semi-finals will be held on 16 September and the final on 17 September.
