The Singapore-flagged cargo ship Dali was en route to Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. Later when the ship collided with the 'Francis Scott Key Bridge' in Baltimore. Within a few seconds the entire bridge collapsed like a house of cards. The bridge collapsed and fell about 50 feet (15 m) into the frigid water, officials said. The accident happened on Tuesday morning. Officials also said the ship suffered electrical problems. Hence, the crew was active and gave an alert call, due to which people moving towards the bridge were stopped.
President Biden praised the crew's vigilance
US President Joe Biden also confirmed that the ship's crew had issued an alert before the collision, saving many lives. “As soon as the crew onboard realized they had lost control of the vessel, they immediately notified the Maryland Department of Transportation,” he said. As soon as the information was received, the local authorities stopped the traffic on the bridge, which saved the lives of the people.
