India-Canada relations: The Indian government has decided to recall its High Commissioner and other diplomats and officials from Canada on Monday (October 14). Apart from this, India expelled six Canadian diplomats and ordered them to leave the country before 12 midnight on Saturday (19 October 2024).

The decision was taken after Canadian police on Monday (October 14) made baseless allegations against Indian diplomats and consular officials based in Canada. Canadian police have accused Indian High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma and other Canada-based diplomats of involvement in a case related to the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijhar, according to a report in Diplomatic Communication.

Taking a tough stance on Canada's baseless allegations, India has summoned the senior diplomat of its mission in Delhi. He said that we cannot accept false allegations against our officers. In this entire matter, the Royal Canadian Mountain Police of Canada has issued a statement accusing Indian diplomats of stealing important information from their country. This is a threat to the lives of the people of the South Asian community and especially the members associated with the pro-Khalistan movement. He further said that we submitted information and evidence regarding this matter to the Indian authorities several times but no action was taken.

Indian government agents threatened

Canadian police said the evidence in our possession shows that agents of the Indian government have collected a variety of information using various organizations in Canada and abroad. For this he has also threatened some people to work. We presented relevant evidence to Indian government officials and requested their cooperation to stop the violence. Our law enforcement agencies are requested to work together to resolve these issues.
