New Delhi, June 13 (HS). The Indian Army has launched the 'D5' motorcycle campaign on the completion of the silver jubilee (25 years) of Kargil Vijay. The purpose of this campaign is to honor the valor and valor of the brave soldiers of the country. This information was given in a press release issued by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) of the Government of India last evening. According to the press release, this campaign focuses on India's victory saga over Pakistan in the 1999 Kargil War. Its purpose is also to pay tribute to bravery and sacrifice.
Three teams of eight motorcycles have started this historic journey from three corners of the country – Dinjan in the east, Dwarka in the west and Dhanushkodi in the south. The teams involved in the expedition will contact the heroes, veterans and brave women of the Kargil war on their respective routes. They will pay tribute at the war memorials on the route. They will also inspire the youth to join the Indian Army.
The eastern route includes movement from Dinjan to Delhi. The team will pass through Jorhat, Guwahati, Binaguri, Katihar, Danapur, Gorakhpur, Lucknow and Agra, covering a distance of about 2,489 km. The western route includes movement from Dwarka to Delhi via Dhrangadhra, Ahmedabad, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Ajmer, Jaipur and Alwar. The team will cover a distance of about 1,565 km.
The southern route involves movement of about 2,963 km from Dhanushkodi to Delhi via Madurai, Coimbatore, Bengaluru, Anantapur, Hyderabad, Nagpur, Bhopal, Gwalior and Alwar. The three teams will assemble in Delhi on June 26 and leave for Drass via two different routes. The expedition will culminate at Gun Hill in Drass. Gun Hill is a prominent place etched in history for its strategic importance during the Kargil war. The expedition is being led by an artillery regiment which played a key role in ensuring the success of Operation Vijay.
