Poonch, 3 December (Hindustan Reporter) The Indian Army organized a medical camp at Sangla in Poonch aimed at providing essential primary health services to the residents of Sangla and adjacent villages in the Pir Panjal ranges.

This population mainly consists of the migrant Gujjar and Bakarwal communities. Known for poor road infrastructure and lack of basic medical facilities, Sangla faces considerable challenges in accessing healthcare. The primary objective of the camp was to reach out to the Gujjar and Bakarwal communities living in the area and the Dhokas.

During the camp, general health check-up was conducted and free medicines were distributed to the villagers. The aim of this initiative was to ensure the health and well-being of the local population by making healthcare more accessible. The villagers expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the care and attention they received.

The presence of a female nursing officer was particularly appreciated by the women present who felt more comfortable discussing their health concerns. Many women who were previously hesitant to share their problems with male doctors were able to solve major health problems that had long been ignored. This endeavor highlights the Indian Army’s commitment towards community welfare and was widely appreciated by the attendees, further strengthening the Army’s image as a nation-building force. A total of 347 local residents benefited from this initiative.
