This is a great opportunity for the youth who have the passion to serve the country and have completed law (LLB) studies to become Class-1 officers in the Indian Army. Indian Army has started the online application process for Judge Advocate General (JAG) Entry Scheme (125th Course) under ‘Short Service Commission’ (SSC). Through this recruitment drive, unmarried male and female law graduates will get an opportunity to become officers in the Legal Branch of the Indian Army. Interested candidates can visit the official portal of the Army and fill the online form till 17 August 2026.
Who can apply? (Eligibility and Age Limit)
To join this special JAG entry of the Army, it is mandatory for the candidates to have the following qualifications:

Educational qualification: Must have a 3-year or 5-year LLB degree with minimum 55% aggregate marks from a recognized university.

CLAT PG Compulsory: Applicants must have appeared for the ‘CLAT PG 2026’ examination (which was held in December 2025) and have a valid scorecard.

Age Limit: Minimum age of applicant as on 1 January 2027 21 years and maximum age 27 years (i.e. the candidate must have been born between 2 January 2000 to 1 January 2006).

Marital Status: Only unmarried male and female candidates are eligible for it.
Selection Process: CLAT Score, SSB Interview and Medical Test
Selection as a JAG officer in the Indian Army is completed in three main stages:

Shortlisting: Candidates will be directly shortlisted on the basis of their CLAT PG 2026 scores.

SSB Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for a 5-day interview by the Army’s ‘Service Selection Board’ (SSB).

Medical Examination: Candidates successful in SSB interview will undergo detailed medical examination.
The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in SSB interview and available vacancies.
