The Indian boxing team ended its campaign with a best-ever 12 medals at the Allorda Cup Boxing on Saturday, with defending champions Nikhat Zareen and Meenakshi winning gold medals in their respective weight categories. Apart from the gold medals of Nikhat and Meenakshi, Indian boxers performed much better than the last season by winning two silver and eight bronze medals. Indian boxers won five medals in the last season. In the 52 kg weight category, Nikhat continued her dominance by defeating Kazakhstan's Zazira Urakbayeva 5-0 and added another gold medal to her career. Meenakshi made a brilliant start to the day as she defeated Uzbekistan's Rahmonova Saidahon 4-1 in the final of the women's 48kg category to give India its first gold medal.
Anamika (50kg) and Manisha (60kg) faced defeat in the finals and their campaign ended with silver medals. Anamika gave a tough fight to defending world champion Wu Yu of China, but ultimately lost 4-1. Manisha lost 0-5 to Victoria Grafieva of Kazakhstan.
