India wins second consecutive Olympic bronze medal, beats Spain 2-1

IND vs ESP Olympics 2024: Under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Singh, the Indian men's hockey team won the bronze medal by defeating Spain 2-1 in the Paris Olympics. After 52 years, the Indian team has won medals in two consecutive Olympics. Earlier, the team was also successful in winning bronze in the Tokyo Olympics.


Indian men's hockey team beat Spain 2-1 to win bronze medal , For India, captain Harmanpreet Singh scored two goals to give India a lead against Spain which eventually proved to be decisive. India also won the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics and now the team has managed to make it to the podium for the second consecutive time. This was the last international match of India's experienced goalkeeper PR Sreejesh and the team bid farewell to the legend. Known as the Wall of India, Sreejesh has been a part of the medal-winning team at the Tokyo and Paris Olympics. Thus India won its 13th medal in the hockey event at the Olympics.

The first quarter between India and Spain was a goalless draw. After this, Spain took the lead by scoring a goal in the second quarter. However, shortly before the end of the second quarter, Harmanpreet Singh scored a goal and equalized for India. Till half time, the match between the two teams was tied at 1-1.

After this, Harmanpreet Singh gave India the lead in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, both teams tried hard to score goals, but failed. Harmanpreet gave India the lead, while Sreejesh made a brilliant save on the goal post and did not let Spain equalize. This is the first time since 1968 and 1972 that an Indian men's hockey team has won medals in two consecutive Olympics. After this brilliant performance, PR Sreejesh has said goodbye to international hockey.
