
Due to active monsoon activities across the country, torrential rains continue. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has released All India Weather Bulletin for 26 July 2026. The Meteorological Department has issued a red color warning in the Ghat areas of Odisha and Central Maharashtra, warning of extremely heavy rains.
Apart from this, very heavy rain has been predicted in Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and Konkan-Goa under Orange Alert. Besides, alert of strong storm, lightning and heavy rain has been issued in more than 17 states of the country.
Red alert in 2 states: extremely heavy rain may occur
According to IMD, due to the low pressure area formed in the north-west Bay of Bengal, the maximum impact of torrential rains will be seen in two states:

Madhya Maharashtra: There is a strong possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in Central Maharashtra and especially its Ghat areas with extremely heavy rainfall at some places.

Odisha: An alert of extremely heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning has been issued in the coastal and interior districts of Odisha. In view of the waterlogging situation in low-lying areas, the administration has issued an alert.
Orange alert in these 3 areas (very heavy rain expected)
The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy to very heavy rainfall in three major states and coastal areas:

Chhattisgarh: There may be torrential rains with fast movement of clouds in many districts of the state.

Gujarat State: Heavy rains will continue in Gujarat region and coastal areas of Saurashtra-Kutch.

Konkan and Goa: Heavy rains with strong winds will continue in the coastal areas of Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and Goa.
Heavy rain warning in 17+ states from north to south
Due to the active monsoon trough in different parts of the country, heavy rainfall is expected at different places in the following states:

North and North-West India: Rain may be recorded in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh and parts of Western Rajasthan.

Central and Eastern India: There will be intermittent heavy rain over East Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal.

Northeast India: Torrential rains are expected in the hilly areas of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

South India: There is a possibility of rain with strong winds in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.
Warning of strong storm, thunder and lightning
Along with rain, there is a danger of strong gusty winds at a speed of 30 to 50 km per hour and lightning in many states:

40-50 km/h winds: Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, North Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Thunderstorm Alert: People in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and North-Eastern states have been instructed to be cautious of lightning.
