India has warned America about the threats made by Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, leader of Khalistani supporter and banned terrorist organization ‘Sikhs for Justice’ (SFJ). Pannu had recently threatened Indian Ambassador to the US Vinay Mohan Kwatra, which India has taken seriously and appealed to the US administration to pay attention to its security concerns.
India’s strong reaction
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “We take these threats very seriously and have raised them with the US government. “We hope they will give priority to our safety concerns.”
Pannu recently threatened the Indian ambassador in a video message, calling him the face of the “India-Russia terror nexus”. Pannu claimed that Indian diplomats are coordinating with Russian authorities to counter pro-Khalistani activities.
American administration’s assurance
On the security of Indian diplomats based in the US, a US Embassy spokesperson said, “The US government is fully committed to the security of all diplomatic and commercial personnel.” Along with this, the Biden administration expressed confidence that relations between India and America will remain strong despite the recent disputes.
“We have been able to find appropriate solutions to these challenges,” a senior official said.
India’s displeasure on Canada
Meanwhile, the central government responded to the serious allegations made by Canada. In the Lok Sabha on Friday, the government said Canada has presented “no evidence” to support its allegations.
Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh said, “Canada’s public statements promote an anti-India separatist agenda. “Such discussions are detrimental to any stable bilateral relationship.”
He further said that India has repeatedly urged Canada to take action against anti-India elements operating on its soil.
India’s security concerns and bilateral relations
India has expressed concern over the increasing activities of Khalistani supporters on the international platform. An appeal has been made to the US administration and other allied countries to stop such activities.
It is clear from the recent developments that India will not make any compromise to ensure its security and the safety of its diplomats. Resolving these issues is necessary to maintain balanced relations between India and countries like America and Canada.
