Washington: Identifying defence, democracy and technology as three important areas of future cooperation between the US and India, top US diplomat Richard Verma said security cooperation between the two strategic partners will become even more important in the coming years.
US Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Richard Verma wrote in a blog post recently after returning from a visit to India, 'There is no doubt that our relationship over 77 years has not been full of ups and downs.' Now our relations are getting stronger. This is where a comprehensive approach is important.
can do better
Richard Verma further wrote that as President Biden and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have said, the impact we have on each other is important, but even more important is what we can do for the world. Whether tackling food insecurity or fighting the next pandemic or connecting millions of people to the digital economy, together we can do so much.
Verma is an Indian-American citizen at the State Department. He is the first Indian to become the US Ambassador to India.
