US Ambassador Eric Garcetti stressed the deep and strong relations between India and the US, saying that these relations have the resilience of a palm tree, which can withstand the most severe storms and strong winds. He expressed confidence that India-US relations will continue to grow and benefit the entire world.
Applauding India’s bold renewable energy targets
Speaking at an event, Garcetti praised India’s bold targets in renewable energy. He said that in the coming 30 years, India will become the largest market globally in the field of renewable energy.
He said, “India’s ambitious policies and goals are making it a leader in solar and wind energy potential. “This is making production possible at cheaper rates not only for India, but also for the entire world.”
Example of coconut tree in Kerala
Garcetti shared an experience at a hotel in Kerala, where he was requested to plant a coconut tree. When he asked how long it would take for coconuts to grow from this tree, he was told that it would take about eight years.
Linking this experience to India-US relations, he said, “I wish we could plant something new every day like that coconut tree and keep finding a way to make things better.”
strength like a palm tree
Garcetti said India-US relations are as flexible and strong as palm trees. He said, “I am confident that these relationships will continue to grow. It is like a palm tree, which neither the fiercest storm nor the strongest winds can uproot.”
Mantra of four P’s (4P)
Garcetti gave the mantra of four P (4P) on India-US partnership:
- Peace
- Stability
- Planet
- People
He said that relations based on these four aspects will promote mutual cooperation and development between the two countries.
Investing in India’s clean energy sector
Garcetti praised the Indian government’s investment in renewable energy. He said that India is investing more in clean energy than any other country in the world. He also said that billions of dollars of green investments are taking place between India and the US in solar and wind power, electric vehicle production, and energy storage solutions.
India-US partnership in renewable energy
Garcetti specifically mentioned the Renewable Energy Technology Action Platform (RETAP). He said that many initiatives are going on in the field of clean energy between India and America, which will become stronger in the coming times.
Allayed fears over Trump administration
It was feared that the Donald Trump administration would not pay that much attention to India-US relations. On this Garcetti gave assurance and said, “Don’t worry, America will remain your partner no matter what. We will continue to invest in solar and wind energy, electric vehicles and energy storage solutions.”
