India third most digitized country among G20 countries after US and China: ICRIER report

India is the third largest digitized country: According to a recent report released by the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER), India has now become the third most digitized country in the world after the US and China among the G20 countries. The report said that India has improved its global ranking in the field of digitalization.

India is truly a digital native country: NASSCOM President

A report by ICRIER and global consumer internet group PROCESS said India has not fully adopted the digitalization path taken by most developing countries. Presenting the report here, Nasscom President Debjani Ghosh said, “The world has still not really understood how technology has made its way into the daily lives of Indians, which for me is the real digital economy.” He further said that 'India is truly a digital native country – not only the youth, who are born in technology, but the older people have also adopted technology.' Debjani Ghosh said that when you think about India's digital economy, you have to think from the perspective of impact and livelihood.

The report measures the scale and depth of India's digital transformation relative to G20 countries as well as Indian states and union territories using a new approach called the CHIPS (Connect-Harness-Innovate-Protect-Sustain) framework. This approach is more suitable for developing countries like India as it captures both the opportunities and threats arising from digitalization. ICRIER Chairperson Pramod Bhasin said, “A lot of work has already been done in terms of innovation, government support, financial access and skills. As an emerging economy, India has truly leapt into the digital age.'
