Indian Postal Department (India Post) will soon release the first selection list (1st Merit List) for recruitment to the posts of Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS), Branch Postmaster (BPM) and Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) on the official portal. Candidates who had applied online for various Postal Circles across the country can apply online on the official portal of the Department of Posts. indiapostgdsonline.gov.in You will be able to download the state wise merit list and cutoff PDF by visiting. The work of scrutiny of application forms by the Postal Department is in the final stage, after which the list of names and roll numbers of circle-wise selected candidates will be made public.
The most important thing about Gramin Dak Sevak recruitment is that no written examination or interview is conducted in it. Candidates are selected from the automatically generated system generated merit list based solely on the percentage of marks obtained in 10th class (Matriculation).
-
Same Points (Tie-Breaking Rule): If two or more candidates have the same marks or CGPA in 10th, then the candidate who is older on the basis of date of birth is given preference. Even after this, if the situation remains the same, women candidates and reserved category candidates get preference.
-
Possible Cutoff: Competition for Gramin Dak Sevak posts is extremely high. The cutoff for General and OBC category candidates is estimated to be between 90% to 98% in many circles, while for reserved categories (SC/ST/EWS/PwD), the cutoff is expected to be in the range of 80% to 90%.
Selected candidates will have to go through the process of Document Verification immediately after the release of the first merit list. The department will also send information to the selected candidates through SMS on their registered mobile number and email ID.
-
It will be mandatory for the candidates to appear with original certificates at their respective Divisional Head/Head Post Office within the stipulated time limit (usually 10 to 15 days).
-
If a candidate fails to get the verification done within the stipulated time of the first list, his/her candidature will be canceled and 2nd Merit List will be issued for the vacant posts.
At the time of verification, candidates will have to carry the following documents in original and two sets of self-attested photocopies:
