New Delhi: BJP, which entered the Lok Sabha elections with a target of winning more than 400 seats, was reduced to 240 seats. Just a month after these elections, in the elections held for 13 assembly seats in seven states, India Alliance performed unprecedentedly and won 10 seats, while BJP got only two seats and an independent candidate won one seat. In the by-elections, Congress won in the hill states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, while Mamata Banerjee's TMC won in West Bengal.

By-elections were held in four seats in West Bengal, three in Himachal Pradesh, two in Uttarakhand and one each in Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Tamil Nadu. Unlike the India Alliance, the BJP won only one seat each in Madhya Pradesh and Himachal. At the same time, the Aam Aadmi Party also got one seat in Punjab.

On July 10, elections were held in Amarwara in Madhya Pradesh, Rupauli in Bihar, Jalandhar West in Punjab, Ranaghat South in West Bengal, Raiganj, Bagda, Maniktala, Hamirpur, Dehra and Nalgarh in Himachal, Badrinath in Uttarakhand, Mangalore and Vikravandi in Tamil Nadu. In this by-election, Congress has won 4 seats, Trinamool Congress 4, BJP 2 and AAP, DMK and independent candidates have won one seat each.

Congress has done a clean sweep in Uttarakhand and captured both the seats. Congress's Qazi Nizamuddin defeated BJP's Kartar Singh Bhadana in Mangalore assembly seat. On the other hand, Congress's Lakhpat Singh Butola defeated BJP candidate Rajendra Singh Bhandari in Badrinath assembly seat. A few days ago, during the Lok Sabha elections, Congress could not even open its account in Uttarakhand. Similarly, Congress performed well in Himachal Pradesh too. By-elections were to be held on three seats in Himachal. Out of these, two seats have gone to Congress' account while BJP had to be satisfied with one seat. In Himachal, Chief Minister Sukhu's wife Kamlesh Thakur defeated the BJP candidate on Dehra seat by 9,399 votes.

Like the Congress in the hilly areas, the Trinamool Congress also made a clean sweep in Bengal and won all four seats. The BJP managed to win only one seat in Himachal Pradesh as well as Madhya Pradesh. The biggest upset in the by-election was seen in Bihar, where independent candidate Shankar Singh emerged victorious. He defeated JDU's Kaladhar Mandal by 8 thousand votes. However, RJD President Lalu Prasad Yadav's daughter Bima Bharti lost and stood third. The ruling DMK has won the Vikravandi assembly seat in Tamil Nadu and Mohinder Bhagat of Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab.

BJP's web of fear and confusion has been broken: Rahul

In the by-elections held on 13 assembly seats in seven states, BJP has suffered a major setback for the second time in a month, the All India Alliance has won 10 seats. After the results of these meetings came on Saturday, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi wrote on social media that the results of the by-elections in seven states have made it clear that the web of fear and confusion created by the BJP has been broken. Every section including farmers, youth, laborers, businessmen and bureaucrats want to eradicate autocracy and establish the rule of justice. People are now completely with the All India Alliance to improve their lives and protect the Constitution. Jai Hindustan, Jai Samvidhaan.

Five BJP turncoats lost, two won by narrow margins

New Delhi: BJP is playing dirty politics of forcing opposition MLAs to resign using money and power and then contesting elections on their tickets. BJP's hand-to-hand combat in assembly by-elections has been criticised by voters and five of its turncoat candidates have lost.

In Punjab, turncoat Sheetal Angural lost the Jalandhar West seat while Rajendra Singh Bhandari lost the Badrinath seat. Angural was earlier an AAP MLA while Bhandari was a Congress MLA.

Ashish Sharma, who won from Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh, also won by 12,899 votes as an independent in 2022 but this time he has barely won by 1571 votes. Kamlesh Shah, who won 25,086 votes as a Congress candidate in the Amarwara seat in 2023, has barely secured 3051 votes as a BJP candidate.

Krishan Lal Sharma, who won by 13,264 votes as an independent in Nalagarh in 2022, lost to Hardeep Singh Bawa of the Congress by 8,990 votes as a BJP candidate. Hoshiar Singh, who won twice in a row from Himachal's Dehra seat in 2017 and 2022, lost to Kamlesh Thakur by 9,399 votes.

Interestingly, both Mukut Mani Adhikari and Krishna Kalyani, who left the BJP and joined Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress, have won.

Biggest setback for BJP: lost three seats in West Bengal

Thanks to the people for foiling the conspiracy of BJP: Mamata

BJP candidate Rajendra Singh Bhandari, who came from Congress, lost the Badrinath seat: BJP won Kamal Nath's stronghold in M. State

New Delhi: The results of the by-elections held on 13 assembly seats in 7 states of the country have given a big blow to the BJP. BJP has won only 2 out of 13 seats and both these seats by a very small margin. The most shameful thing for the BJP is that just as it lost the Ayodhya seat in the Lok Sabha elections, in the same way the BJP has lost badly in Badrinath, the holy pilgrimage site of Hindus in Uttarakhand. BJP may be in power in Uttarakhand, but it has lost both the seats. After the victory of Trinamool Congress in the by-elections held on all four assembly seats in West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee stood on the road and thanked the people. Mamata also congratulated the people of Bengal for foiling the conspiracy of BJP by showing culture and wisdom.

West Bengal

BJP has suffered the biggest setback in West Bengal. Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress has defeated BJP by winning Maniktala, Raiganj, Ranaghat South and Bagdah seats. Out of these, Maniktala seat was vacant due to the death of Trinamool Congress MLA Sadhan Pandey, while the remaining three seats were won by BJP in the last election, but Mamata Banerjee has snatched all three seats from BJP.

Trinamool Congress candidate Krishna Kalyani won the Raiganj seat by defeating BJP's Manas Kumar Ghosh by more than 50,000 votes. Senior Congress leader Mohitsen Gupta was the candidate from the Left-Congress alliance, but lost badly and finished third.

In Bagda assembly seat, Madhuparna Thakur of Mamata's party defeated Binay Kumar Vishwas of BJP, while in Ranaghat South seat, Mukut Mani Adhikari of Mamata Banerjee's party defeated Manoj Kumar Vishwas of BJP. There were rumours that BJP would give a tough fight on all four seats of Bengal, but Trinamool candidates have won all four seats by more than 30 thousand votes.

Uttarakhand

BJP's crushing defeat in Badrinath seat, one of the four holy pilgrimage sites and Dhams of Hindus in Uttarakhand, is similar to the defeat in Ayodhya seat in the Lok Sabha elections. In Badrinath, Congress' Lakhpat Singh Butola has won by more than 5 thousand votes against BJP's Rajendra Singh Bhandari. In the 2022 elections, Rajendra Singh Bhandari won on a Congress ticket, but BJP pulled him and made him a candidate in the by-election. The voters of Badrinath have taught a lesson to both Bhandari and BJP.

BJP fielded Obaidur Rahman alias Montibhai in alliance with BSP to defeat Congress's Qazi Mohammed Nizamuddin from Mangalore seat to divide Muslim votes. Despite taking around 20 thousand votes, Rahman could not defeat Congress

Himachal Pradesh

Congress has won two out of three seats in Himachal Pradesh. BJP had put in all its efforts to defeat Kamlesh Thakur, wife of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, on the Dehra seat, but Kamlesh Thakur won by 9399 votes. Congress' Harjeep Singh Bawa won by 9 thousand votes in Nalagarh. BJP has won the Hamirpur seat in Himachal Pradesh, but BJP candidate Ashish Sharma won by just 1571 votes.

Punjab

In Punjab, Aam Aadmi Party has defeated BJP by winning Jalandhar West seat. BJP fielded Aam Aadmi Party MLA Sheetal Angural by giving him ticket but Angural lost to Mohinder Bhagat who had left BJP by more than 37 thousand votes.

Tamil Nadu

In Tamil Nadu, Stalin's party DMK candidate Anninur Shiva has won by more than 62 thousand votes. BJP's ally PMK's Anbumani has faced a crushing defeat. Neither BJP nor AIADMK has any answer to DMK in Tamil Nadu.

Madhya Pradesh

The victory in Madhya Pradesh's Amarwara seat has saved BJP's face. If Paki had lost despite being in power in Madhya Pradesh, BJP's prestige would have been lost, however BJP's Kamlesh Pratap Shah won by 3027 votes against Congress's Dhiren Shah Sukhram Das Ivanti.

Bihar

In Bihar too, the BJP-JDU alliance has suffered a crushing defeat and independent candidate Shankar Singh has won the Rupauli seat of Bihar. Shankar Singh's defeat by 8246 votes against JDU's Kaladhar Mandal has also created problems for Nitish.
