Moscow, August 15 (HS). The Indian Embassy on Wednesday issued an advisory to its citizens, including Indian students, living in the Bryansk, Belgorod and Kursk regions of Russia to temporarily move to safer places. The embassy has cited security concerns in these areas after the Russia-Ukraine war intensified.

The security advisory by the Indian embassy came hours after a state of emergency was declared in Russia's Belgorod border region. An emergency was declared in Russia's Belgorod border region on Wednesday due to heavy shelling by Ukrainian forces, as Ukrainian troops attempted to make a massive cross-border incursion into the neighbouring Kursk region for the second consecutive week. An emergency was declared in Kursk last Saturday after Ukrainian forces launched an incursion into the region on August 6.

The Indian Embassy said, “In view of the recent security incidents in the Bryansk, Belgorod and Kursk regions, Indian citizens are advised to take necessary precautions and temporarily leave these areas.”
