The Indian cricket team has started the three-match T20 series against Sri Lanka with a win. In this match being played at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Saturday, India defeated Sri Lanka by 43 runs. Chasing the target of 214 runs given by India, the Sri Lankan team was all out for 170 runs in 19.2 overs.
Sri Lanka, which came out to chase the target, got off to a great start with the pair of Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis adding 84 runs for the first wicket. Arshdeep Singh dismissed Kusal Mendis on a personal score of 45 runs. Wicketkeeper batsman Mendis played an innings of 45 runs in 27 balls. After this, Kusal Perera and Kamindu Mendis played innings of 20 and 12 runs respectively.
Axar Patel dismissed Perera and he also bowled out Pathum Nissanka on a personal score of 79 runs to give India an important victory. Perera played an innings of 79 runs in 48 balls, in which he hit 7 fours and 4 sixes. After this, Sri Lanka's middle and lower middle order could not hold on.
For India, Riyan Parag took 3 wickets for 5 runs in 1.2 overs and Akshar Patel took 2-2 wickets. Mohammad Siraj and Ravi Bishnoi got 1-1 wickets, before this India scored 213 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Captain Suryakumar Yadav scored the most runs for India and played a stormy innings of 58 runs in 26 balls.
