News India Live, Digital Desk: India Canada Relations: A brief and slightly uncomfortable meeting between Prime Ministers, Narendra Modi and Justin Trudeau, India and Canadian Prime Ministers, at the recent G-7 summit took place. The meeting took place during a ‘outreach’ season, where Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau and his special messenger Mark Carney were sitting separately.

When Prime Minister Modi gave them When he proceeded to join hands, it felt as if the full feeling of the ongoing tension between the two countries was reflected in that moment. It was happening after about eight months that the two leaders came face to face, since Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau had made out of the murder of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in his Parliament in the case of the murder of India.

India and Canada’s relations have been constantly strong since Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot dead on June 18 last year. The G-20 summit in Delhi in September 2023 also had talks between the two leaders, but this bitterness of relationships did not diminish.

The Canadian government, especially Trudeau, believes that India is involved in this murder, while New Delhi has dismissed these allegations outright and described them as ‘absurd’ and ‘thought’. The entire development came on Canada’s foreign policy just after Mark Carney’s statement in Parliament, where he spoke on many global issues.

In short, this G-7 meeting highlights the deep gap between the two countries, which may take a long time to bridge.
