World Cup 2024: India started the T20 World Cup with a win. However, India's victory over the opponent team Ireland was not only expected but it was also to be seen whether India wins with dominance or not and India succeeded in that. India scored 97 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 12.2 overs. Rohit Sharma scored 36 runs intermittently.
India won the toss and batted first, bowling out Ireland for just 96 runs in 16 overs.
After a poor form in the IPL, Hardik Pandya found his bowling rhythm and took 3 wickets for 27 runs in 4 overs. Arshdeep Singh dismissed both the openers Stirling and Balbirnie in his second over.
Bumrah continued his usual tight bowling performance. He took two wickets for 6 runs in 3 overs.
Siraj and Akshar Patel also took 1-1 wickets. Thus all the major bowlers of India took wickets.
For Ireland, Delaney scored the highest 26 runs in 14 balls with the help of two fours and two sixes. Seven batsmen of Ireland could not register a double-digit figure. The challenge of 97 runs for 2 wickets was naturally not difficult for India, although opener Kohli was out after scoring 1 run in the third over. He lofted the ball in the air and hit a sweep sweep.
He was bowled by White on Adair's ball on the boundary. As such, he could not practice batting on this pitch before the match against Pakistan on Sunday.
In the first match of the T20 World Cup, India fielded Rohit Sharma in place of Yashasvi Jaiswal along with Kohli.
However, Rohit Sharma has completely regained the form he lost in the IPL with his aggressive batting. Similarly, Rishabh Pant's game also boosted India's enthusiasm for the World Cup.
