Mirza Islam Alamgir on India-Bangladesh relation: After the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government in Bangladesh and Sheikh Hasina's departure from Bangladesh to India, there is a lot of speculation about the future of relations between the two countries. Now the leader of Bangladesh's ruling party Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has given a big statement about the relations between the two countries. He said that the relations between the two countries will be strengthened. But he also mentioned some issues which need to be resolved.

What did the BNP leader say about relations with India?

In an interview, BNP General Secretary Mirza Islam Alamgir, on the question of relations with India, said that relations between the two countries will definitely strengthen because as a political party we (BNP) consider India as our friend and neighbor. But we want that some issues should be resolved between the two countries, which include issues like water sharing issue, killing of Bangladeshi people by BSF on the border, removing trade imbalance between the two countries. We want mutual relations with India.

Khaleda Zia unwell, Tariq Rahman to lead

Mirza Islam Alamgir said about the BNP leadership that Khaleda Zia is ill. She is the party president and the most popular leader of Bangladesh but she is ill and needs treatment at the moment. If the doctors allow, he will go abroad for treatment. If he returns, he will definitely be the face of BNP in the next election but if he does not return and is not fit to contest the election, then acting president Tariq Rahman will replace him.

Interim government to hold free elections

BNP leader Alamgir said that former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has resigned and has fled the country leaving her party and people. She needed to stay with the people but she left the country. According to the information we received, she is currently in Delhi. There was a student and civil uprising, it was a revolution and Sheikh Hasina's police killed about 1,000 students and arrested about 12,000. Lakhs of people were on the road and they were going towards the Prime Minister's residence and then she fled the country in her helicopter. After Sheikh Hasina left the country, an interim government was formed in the country, whose chairman is Nobel Prize winner Professor Yunus. The interim government will definitely stabilize the situation and bring peace, the law and order situation will improve. The main task of the interim government is to conduct free and fair elections.

There is a provision in our constitution that the interim government should have 90 days but this time limit can also be extended under special circumstances. We have always said that we have given a vision of 2030. The country will definitely improve. For this, mainly judicial reforms, constitutional reforms and administrative reforms will be done. We will try to eliminate corruption, which is very important. We will restore democracy and democratic values in a proper and pure manner. There will be freedom of expression and people will be free to join any political party or political rallies and their democratic rights will be established. We want to see a liberal democratic Bangladesh and a prosperous Bangladesh. We believe that we can do it. Unfortunately the former Prime Minister's government politicized the entire judiciary and people showed a lot of anger against them. There was anger among the public, lawyers, civil society and even students. Therefore the Chief Justice and other judges had to resign.
