India Alliance's nominated candidate Dr. Sarfaraz Ahmed filed his nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha elections on Monday at around 2 pm in the office room of Jharkhand Legislative Assembly in-charge secretary cum returning officer of Rajya Sabha elections, Syed Javed Haider.
Sarfaraz Ahmed filed nomination papers in two sets, in which the MLAs of the India Alliance became the proposers. Along with Sarfaraz, Chief Minister Champai Soren, Minister Mithilesh Thakur, Minister Satyanand Bhokta, Minister Alamgir Alam, ML MLA Vinod Singh, besides legislative party leader Alamgir Alam, RJD's Satyanand Bhokta and ML MLA Vinod Singh etc. were present.
Chief Minister Champai said that two candidates have come into the fray in the elections for two seats. In such a situation, it is considered certain that Sarfaraz Ahmed will go to Rajya Sabha. Jharkhand has given a big message to other states through this election. Champai also congratulated Dr. Sarfaraz Ahmed.
After filing nomination papers, Sarfaraz Ahmed said that the party has fulfilled the promise. For this I am thankful.
It is noteworthy that Sarfaraz Ahmed was an MLA from Gandey Assembly but he had resigned from the post before the arrest of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Sarfaraz is one of the prominent leaders of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. In the year 1980, he became MLA for the first time by winning the election on Congress ticket. After separation of Jharkhand from Bihar, he was Congress MLA from Gandey seat from 2009 to 2014, but just before the 2019 assembly elections, he joined JMM and became MLA by winning the election from Gandey.
