Index-based rally breaks down: Sensex falls 72 points to 82891 | News India

Mumbai: In contrast to strong US and European markets in global markets, Asian markets remained soft today on reports of China's deteriorating economic condition and action against investment bankers by the Chinese government, which banned international auditing company Price Water House-PwC for six months as a punitive step in connection with the alleged scam in auditing. Indian stock markets today saw Sensex, Nifty based rally halted after Nifty 50 hit record highs yesterday on the closing day. While shares of small, midcap, IT, consumer durables, automobile, banking, metal-mining companies rose. At the end of the volatility, Sensex closed 71.77 points down at 82890.94 and Nifty 50 spot closed 32.4 points down at 25356.50.

Blue Star rose by Rs 69 to Rs 1,888: Voltas rose by Rs 69 to Rs 1,922: VIP, Dixon Techno gained.

Consumer durables stocks remained the fund's choice today. Blue Star rose Rs 69.45 to Rs 1887.65, Voltas rose Rs 68.70 to Rs 1922.10, VIP Industries rose Rs 11.65 to Rs 503, Rajesh Exports rose Rs 5.45 to Rs 295.60. Dixon Technology rose Rs 175.70 to Rs 13,022.55. The BSE Consumer Durables index closed 665.94 points higher at 66749.49.

In the metal-mining sector, metal-mining stocks were surging after the government decided to extend anti-dumping duty on imports of certain steel products from China and Vietnam for a longer period, which was expected to benefit Indian companies, manufacturers. APL Apollo rose Rs 40.95 to Rs 1460.50, Vedanta rose Rs 12.20 to Rs 453.90, Jindal Steel rose Rs 24.55 to Rs 1028.75, NMDC rose Rs 5.20 to Rs 200.70, Jindal Stainless rose Rs 11.35 to Rs 762.25, SAIL rose Rs 1.50 to Rs 132.15, Tata Steel rose Rs 1.65 to Rs 153.40.

Realty stocks rise again: DLF rises Rs 28 to Rs 864: Oberoi Realty, Macrotech, Godrej rise

Fund inflows into realty companies rose again today on expectations of increased demand for properties in the real estate sector. DLF rose by Rs 27.90 to Rs 863.60, Oberoi Realty rose by Rs 52.80 to Rs 1819, Macrotech Developers rose by Rs 35.10 to Rs 1232.20, Godrej Properties rose by Rs 64.30 to Rs 2943.30. Shobha Developers rose by Rs 33.75 to Rs 1776.80, Mahindra Life rose by Rs 8.65 to Rs 549.65, Brigade Enterprises rose by Rs 12.55 to Rs 1333.05. BSE Realty index rose 143.69 points to close at 8232.07.

Market breadth positive: 2477 stocks closed positive on continued broad-based gain in small, mid-cap stocks

Market breadth remained positive as Sensex, Nifty based stocks at record highs Funds, players continued buying in small, mid cap stocks and select A group stocks today. Out of total 4067 stocks traded on BSE, number of gainers increased from 2337 to 2477 and number of losers increased from 1609 to 1481.

Profit booking in oil and gas stocks: Reliance, Petronet, ONGC, HPCL, GAIL fall

Oil and gas shares are selling at a profit today. ONGC fell by Rs 2.35 to Rs 291.65, Petronet LNG fell by Rs 8 to Rs 334.70, Indraprastha Gas fell by Rs 8.75 to Rs 516, GAIL fell by Rs 1.70 to Rs 218.90, Adani Total Gas fell by Rs 4.45 to Rs 800.95, Reliance Industries fell by Rs 13.95 to Rs 2944.45, BPCL fell by Rs 1.45 to Rs 342.10.

Net purchase of shares by FPIs/FIIs Rs. 2365 crore: Net purchase by DIIs Rs. 2532 crore

Foreign Portfolio Investors – FPI, FII made a net purchase of shares worth Rs 2364.82 crore in cash today on Friday. A total of Rs 13,618.17 crore was sold against a total purchase of Rs 15,982.99 crore. On the other hand, DII-Domestic Institutional Investors made a net purchase of Rs 2532.18 crore in cash today. A total of Rs 8624.25 crore was sold against a total purchase of Rs 11,156.43 crore.

Investor asset-market cap rises by Rs 1.35 lakh crore to a new record high of Rs 468.71 lakh crore
