Mumbai: In contrast to strong US and European markets in global markets, Asian markets remained soft today on reports of China's deteriorating economic condition and action against investment bankers by the Chinese government, which banned international auditing company Price Water House-PwC for six months as a punitive step in connection with the alleged scam in auditing. Indian stock markets today saw Sensex, Nifty based rally halted after Nifty 50 hit record highs yesterday on the closing day. While shares of small, midcap, IT, consumer durables, automobile, banking, metal-mining companies rose. At the end of the volatility, Sensex closed 71.77 points down at 82890.94 and Nifty 50 spot closed 32.4 points down at 25356.50.
