Independence Day: 1037 soldiers will be awarded gallantry and service medals on Independence Day | News India

This year the country is going to celebrate its 78th Independence Day on Thursday. On Wednesday, a day before Independence Day, the government has announced the President's medal. This year a total of 1037 personnel of police, fire brigade, home guard and civil defense and correctional services will be awarded gallantry and service medals.

The Government annually awards the President’s Medal and the Gallantry Medal for acts of conspicuous gallantry in saving life and property or in preventing crime or apprehending criminals.

The Home Ministry announced the names

The Home Ministry has announced the names of the medal winners. Uttar Pradesh ADG Suvendra Kumar Bhagal, DIG Kalpana Saxena, Inspector Sugandha Upadhyay and SI Ramveer Singh will be awarded the President's Medal.

The Prime Minister will address the nation for the 11th time from the Red Fort

All preparations have been completed for the program to be held in the capital Delhi on the occasion of Independence Day. On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation by hoisting the tricolor for the 11th consecutive time from the historic Red Fort.
