Indefinite strike of Municipal Corporation sanitation workers continues for the fourth day

Saharsa, November 23 (HS). The indefinite strike of Municipal Corporation sanitation workers continued for the fourth day on Saturday. Mayor candidate Jitendra Chauhan also expressed moral support to the indefinite strike by the sanitation workers by joining the protest site. He also said that the nine-point reasonable demands of the sanitation workers must be accepted. He also demanded that residential land should be made available to the landless sanitation workers.

The condition of the city has become hellish due to the accumulation of dirt on the roads due to the strike by the sanitation workers. The daily sanitation workers of the Municipal Corporation went on an indefinite strike from Wednesday to press for their demands. A total of 266 sanitation workers protested by locking the main gate of the Saharsa Municipal Corporation office. The protesters say that as a result of the agitation for 12-point demands on June 28 this year, the Municipal Commissioner had given a written assurance that they All the demands will be fulfilled but till now neither those demands have been fulfilled and now the daily sanitation workers are being employed under the NGO. In protest against this, they have disrupted the cleanliness of the Municipal Corporation by imposing a lockdown.

The demands of the sanitation workers are that they are landless and land should be provided to them. There should be permanent appointment of sanitation workers working in the Municipal Corporation. After the death of the permanent sanitation workers working in the Municipal Corporation, they should get compassionate benefits. Arrears of daily sanitation workers should be paid from the year 2014 to the year 2023. One should also get the benefit of insurance amount received in case of death after EPF deduction for cleaning and should be kept away from work under NGO.
