Income tax driver pretended to be IT commissioner and cheated Rs 2 crore

Mumbai – A case has come to light of a driver working in the Income Tax Department duping 45 youth of Rs 2 crore by posing as a fake IT Commissioner. The police arrested this fake commissioner and conducted further investigation.

Accused Rinku Sharma, 33, trapped a girl from Nalasopara. A total of Rs 15 lakh was extorted from him at different times by telling him that he was the Income Tax Commissioner and would give him a job. However, after not getting a job for a long time, he suspected that the girl had been cheated. So he complained about it to the police. The case was investigated by the team of Crime Branch-3. The police conducted technical investigation and arrested the accused Rinku Sharma. When Rinku was interrogated, she confessed that she had cheated 45 people in a similar manner and had extorted Rs 2 crore from them.

While giving information about the modus operandi of the accused, Senior Police Inspector of Crime Branch-3, Pramod Badakh said that Rinku Sharma is a driver. However, he drove around in a red badged car and wore suit boots. So people thought that he was a big officer. , He gave jobs to the youth and also gave them appointment letters and identity cards. He used to mislead by saying that a call for job would come soon.

Rinku had passed only sixth class

Rinku Sharma has barely studied till sixth grade. He was working as a driver on contract in the Income Tax Department of Mumbai for 10 years. Therefore he knew a lot about the Income Tax Department. He knew how different departments of the Income Tax Department work and what are the posts of officers. He had obtained some documents from the Income Tax Department. He also presented his identity card. Despite being a bachelor, he had a good command of the English language. Due to which no one doubted him.

Apart from this, 28 fake identity cards of many departments and posts including CBI, Home Department, Police, Journalist have been found from Rinku Sharma. It is also possible that he may have misused it and the police is investigating the matter. Further investigation of the case has been handed over to Pelhar police.
