Dehradun, 26 October (HS). Under Operation Sadbhavna, aimed at promoting tourism and community engagement, a tent-based homestay was inaugurated on Saturday at Kalapani, a historical and beautiful place in the Kumaon region. This homestay has been started by Brigadier SPS Chauhan, Commander of Panchshul Brigade. The objective of this initiative is to provide tourists with an authentic experience of local culture and promote sustainable tourism practices under the 'Vibrant Village' program of the Central Government.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Sarpanch of Garbyang village, Brijesh Garbyal stressed the importance of such initiatives in enhancing the livelihood of rural communities. This homestay not only provides a unique experience for the travelers but also supports the nation building efforts supported by the Indian Army, encourages rural development and establishes a deeper bond between the visitors and the villagers.

This initiative will also strengthen the rural economy while promoting the Vibrant Village Programme. The Indian Army is also running several other projects like electrification of villages, installation of hybrid solar plants, organizing medical camps, etc. in the border areas of Kumaon region to encourage tourism and prevent migration of local residents.
