Inauguration of Bhuj-Naliya Gauge Conversion Project at a cost of Rs 1100 crore by PM will open many opportunities in connectivity, employment opportunities, tourism and trade

PM Modi in Amreli: Indian Railways has made a huge contribution to the multifaceted development of the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the Bhuj-Naliya Gauge Conversion Project costing about Rs 1100 crore to the nation at a ceremony held in Lathi, Amreli, Gujarat on October 28, 2024. The details of this infrastructure project are as follows.

Bhuj-Naliya Gauge Conversion Project has been completed at a cost of Rs 1094.37 crore. This section consists of 24 major and 254 minor bridges along with 3 road over bridges and 30 road under bridges. With the completion of this section, the Bhuj–Naliya meter gauge line has been converted into a broad gauge line under the uni-gauge policy of Indian Railways.

Continent has provided uninterrupted broad gauge rail connectivity to the remote areas of Kutch district with the rest of the rail network. Bhuj-Naliya railway line has also enhanced port connectivity and promoted exports/imports through the port route in Kutch district. Cement industries in the region have also gained momentum and this has also facilitated efficient transportation of salt, minerals and other raw materials. These developments will create more employment opportunities, thereby improving the socio-economic progress of the area.
