In view of the continuous heavy rains in the district, District Magistrate Navneet Pandey is continuously taking information from the District Disaster Operation Center and the control rooms at the tehsil level and departmental officials. He has instructed all the officials to remain on high alert. The District Magistrate has also appealed to the general public to avoid unnecessary travel in view of the heavy rains and travel only after taking information about the road route.
Due to heavy rains various routes have been blocked, work is continuously going on to open them. National Highway 09 Tanakpur-Champawat between Swala-Amodi (under Km 106) is getting closed due to continuous falling of debris and stones from the hill due to continuous rain, which is being opened and traffic is being made smooth, which is again getting blocked due to falling of debris and stones, to open which JCB and Pocland machines have been deployed from both sides, work to open the route is continuously going on. NH officials are also present on the spot and are working to get the route opened. Due to closure of NH on Friday, the district administration arranged and distributed tea, water, biscuits etc. to the passengers stranded on the route.
District Magistrate Navneet Pandey directed the National Highway officials to work swiftly and open the closed road and make the traffic smooth. He also said that safety should also be taken care of while opening the road. Apart from this, the District Magistrate has instructed all road construction agencies, National Highway, Public Works Department, Rural Construction Department and PMGSY to remain in alert mode and reduce the response time and open the closed roads quickly.
He instructed all the sub-district magistrates, block development officers and all tehsildars to keep a close eye on the area. Ensure immediate rescue and relief work in case of any kind of incident. He instructed all the Patwaris, Gram Vikas and Gram Panchayat Vikas officers to remain in their respective areas and also instructed all the police stations and outposts to remain alert.
