In this way you can easily renew your passport and know the process

Passport is an important virtual document recognized as a proof of national identity. It is required for various purposes like holidays, employment and education in another country. However, passports also have a validity period, which usually lasts for 10 years. It is advisable to renew your passport at least 9 months before its expiry.

If you are below 18 years of age, you will have to renew your passport every 5 years. Although the passport renewal process is straightforward, let's understand the steps.

Required Documents:

  • valid passport
  • This should be a photocopy of the first and last page of your current passport.
  • Self attested photocopy of ECR/Non-ECR page
  • proof of address
  • Photocopy of validity extension page
  • Self attested photocopy of any observation page

Passport Renewal Fee:

The fee for a 36 page passport with 10 years validity is ₹1500 and for Tatkal it is ₹2000.

The fee for a 60 page passport with 10 years validity is ₹ 2000 and for Tatkal the fee is ₹ 2000.

The fee for children below 18 years of age with 5 years validity is ₹1000, and for Tatkal it is ₹2000.

The fee is Rs 1500 for children below 18 years of age and Rs 2000 for Tatkal with 10 years validity.

How to renew passport online

  • Go to Passport Seva website.
  • Log in with your registered credentials.
  • Access the portal with your login credentials.
  • Tap on 'Apply for New Passport/Apply for Re-issue of Passport'.
  • Click on 'Reissue Passport' option.
  • Select the required documents.
  • Proceed to payment and schedule.
  • Complete the payment.
  • Submit the application form.
  • Select the 'Application Print' option.
  • Visit the nearest Passport Seva Kendra on the scheduled date with all the required documents and your submitted application.
