In the year 2022-23, local parties will get Rs. 200 crores donated

New Delhi: Local political parties active in various states received donations worth Rs 200 crore in the financial year 2022-23, the ADR report has revealed. Local parties left Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, JJP, TDP and TMC behind in donations, while Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) became the top local party with donations worth Rs 154 crore.

According to the ADR report, 57 local parties were analysed, out of which only 18 parties gave timely information about the donations received by them to the Election Commission. 28 parties received a total donation of Rs 216.765 crore. According to the rules, it is necessary to disclose the identity of people who donate more than Rs 20,000. There are also seven parties which have claimed that they did not receive any donations during the financial year 2022-23.

Meanwhile, there are some parties which saw a big jump in the amount of donations received. There was a tremendous jump of 3685 percent in the donations of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. After which there was a jump of 1997 percent in donations of Jannayak Janata Party and a jump of 1795 percent in donations of TDP. On the other hand, there are also parties which saw a decline in donations, like Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party saw a 99.1 percent decline in donations and Shiromani Akali Dal saw a 89.1 percent decline in donations.

KCR’s party BRS, which lost power in Telangana, received a total of Rs 154 crore from 47 donations, followed by YSR Congress at Rs 16 crore and TDP at Rs 11.92 crore. Donations received by five parties BRS, YSR Congress, TDP, DMK and CPI constituted 90 per cent of the donations declared by various local parties. That means these parties have received the maximum donations. However, in the donations information given by the parties, five parties gave details of donations worth Rs 96.2 lakh but did not provide PAN card numbers. Whereas the addresses of those who donated Rs 3.36 crore were not given. The amount of 204 donations worth Rs 165 crore is Rs 165.73 crore but the information about how this donation was made has not been revealed.
