In the sixth phase, 49.20 percent voting was done till 3 pm, the highest in Bengal was 70.19 and the lowest in UP was 43.95 percent

New Delhi, May 25 (HS). Voting is going on for 58 parliamentary seats in eight states and union territories on Saturday in the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections. According to the Election Commission, 49.20 percent voting was recorded across the country till 3 pm. West Bengal recorded the highest voting percentage of 70.19 percent while Uttar Pradesh recorded the lowest voting percentage of 43.95 percent.

Along with the Lok Sabha, voting is also being held for 42 seats of Odisha Assembly today. According to the Election Commission, 48.44 percent voting was recorded till 3 pm.

According to the Election Commission, Bihar recorded 45.21 per cent polling, Haryana 46.26 per cent, Jammu and Kashmir 44.41 per cent, Jharkhand 54.34 per cent, the national capital Delhi 44.58 per cent, Odisha 48.44 per cent, Uttar Pradesh 43.95 per cent and West Bengal 70.19 per cent.

According to the Election Commission, out of 58 parliamentary seats, 49 are reserved for general, 2 for ST and 7 for SC category. Talking about state-wise candidates, in this phase, 86 candidates are in the fray for 8 seats of Bihar, 223 for 10 seats of Haryana, 20 for 1 seat of Jammu & Kashmir, 93 for 4 seats of Jharkhand, 162 for 7 seats of Delhi, 64 for 6 seats of Odisha, 162 for 14 seats of Uttar Pradesh and 69 for 8 seats of West Bengal. A total of 889 candidates are in the fray in this phase.

Of the 42 assembly seats in Odisha Assembly, 31 are reserved for General, 5 for ST and 6 for SC category.

In the sixth phase, all seven seats of Delhi- Chandni Chowk, North East Delhi, East Delhi, New Delhi, North West Delhi, West Delhi and South Delhi, all 10 seats of Haryana- Ambala, Kurukshetra, Sirsa, Hisar, Karnal, Sonipat, Rohtak, Bhiwani-Mahendragarh, Gurgaon and Faridabad, 14 seats of Uttar Pradesh- Sultanpur, Pratapgarh, Phulpur, Allahabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Shravasti, Dumariyaganj, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Lalganj, Azamgarh, Jaunpur, Machhlishahr and Bhadohi, eight seats of West Bengal- Tamluk, Kanthi, Ghatal, Jhargram, Medinipur, Purulia, Bankura and Bishnupur, four seats of Jharkhand- Giridih, Dhanbad, Ranchi and Jamshedpur, eight seats of Bihar- Valmiki Nagar, West Champaran, East Champaran, Sheohar, Vaishali, Gopalganj (SC), Siwan and Maharajganj, one seat of Jammu and Kashmir- Anantnag-Rajouri and six seats of Odisha Voting is taking place in the seats Bhubaneswar, Puri, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar (SC), Cuttack and Sambalpur.
