In the Run for Green Marathon, people gave the message of making the city green | Live Updates, Unveiling the Latest India News Trends

Gurugram, June 9 (HS). Municipal Corporation Gurugram Commissioner Dr. Narhari Singh Bangar called upon the citizens to cooperate in making Gurugram green, clean and better. Every citizen should plant as many trees as possible during the monsoon and nurture them. This is not only important but also the need of the hour. He was speaking as the chief guest at the Run for Green Marathon organized by Gyanprabha Foundation in Sector-102 on Sunday.

He said that it is a commendable initiative of Gyanprabha Foundation to raise awareness through organizing this marathon. He was really impressed to see such a huge crowd in the morning. It shows that people want such awareness in the society. He said that Municipal Corporation Gurugram will be a pioneer in promoting and supporting such initiatives in the city which require environment-oriented activities to involve the society. He said that now the time has come that we should plant as many trees as possible so that our environment becomes clean and we build a better city for our coming generation.

Subhash Yadav, Additional Chief Executive Officer, Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority, praised the participants and said that they have come from far and wide to the venue to participate in the 10 km and 5 km races. He said that this is the second consecutive marathon organised by Gyan Prabha Foundation in collaboration with the residents of Sectors 99 to 115 of Dwarka Expressway. As he has observed, the number of participants is many times more this year than last year. This is a good sign.

Senior retired IAS officer and former Finance Secretary of India Ashok Lavasa said that the best part of this event is the distribution of plants by Gyanprabha Foundation. I congratulate Dhananjay Jha of the organization for leading this event. He said that the increasing temperature in the country every year is not a good sign. The only way to deal with this hidden danger is to promote greenery by planting trees. He praised the citizens and said that it is commendable how enthusiastic they are to take this issue as their duties and responsibilities. He appealed to the participants to not only plant a tree, but also grow and take care of it like their child.
