In the last 72 years, no independent candidate has been elected as MP from this seat of Bundelkhand

Hamirpur, May 31 (HS). In the last 72 years, no independent candidate has been able to become an MP from Hamirpur-Mahoba parliamentary constituency. From the beginning till now, a large number of independent candidates have tried their luck in the election field to become an MP in this parliamentary constituency, but the people here have expressed their trust only in the candidates of two regional political parties including Congress and BJP. That is why most of the candidates from this seat have reached the Lok Sabha by winning the election from Congress. This time BJP can also break this record.

So far, eighteen general elections have been held on Hamirpur-Mahoba Lok Sabha seat of Bundelkhand. In the last seventy-two years, along with the candidates of Congress and other political parties, many independents also contested in the Lok Sabha elections, but in the initial phase, the public has shown more trust in Congress. That is why Congress has dominated this seat for a long time six times. Congress has won the seat six times while BJP has held this seat five times. BSP has won the seat twice and SP has won only once.

An honorable candidate from Congress had scored a hattrick on the parliamentary seat. For the first time in the last 72 years, 41 candidates came into the election field in 1996 for the Hamirpur Lok Sabha seat. Apart from the candidates of BJP, Congress and other parties, dozens of independents spoiled the equations of the party candidates. Despite this, BJP registered a victory. Twelve candidates were in the fray in 1998, sixteen in 1999, fifteen in 2004, fifteen in 2009, fifteen in 2014 and fourteen candidates were in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. This time, apart from the party candidates, eight independents have entered the election fray and have given a shock to the caste equation.

Janata Dal and SP leaders won the parliamentary seat once each

Hamirpur-Mahoba parliamentary seat came under the control of Janata Dal in the year 1989. Gangacharan Rajput became MP from here for the first time. Congress was wiped out in the wave of Janata Dal. BSP was at third place here while an independent candidate got 4.3% votes. Similarly, in the 2004 general election, SP hoisted the flag of victory on this seat for the first time. Whereas since 1996 SP was trying hard to capture Hamirpur-Mahoba seat.

BSP's honourable reached Lok Sabha by winning the election from the prestigious Hamirpur seat twice

In the last seventy two years, BSP has defeated SP by winning Hamirpur-Mahoba parliamentary seat twice. BSP entered the general elections in 1989, but due to the wave of Janata Dal, BSP came third by getting 14.4% votes. In the electoral mathematics of BSP, for the first time in 1999, BSP had a bumper victory on this seat, while in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, BSP won the seat for the second time. In the last two elections, BSP came second in the BJP tsunami.

This time too, due to many independent candidates in the election field, BJP can score a hat-trick

This time, apart from BJP, SP and BSP, eight independent candidates have dreams of becoming MPs in Hamirpur Lok Sabha seat of Bundelkhand. But due to the large number of independents, it is being speculated that the cycle and elephant will suffer losses. This time, there has been a tough competition between the cycle and lotus of India alliance in the voting, due to which the cycle has caught the race in some areas, but despite this, BJP can score a hat-trick here on the parliamentary seat with a small margin of votes.
