Ganpati Visarjan 2024: During the 10-day Ganesh festival, people worship Ganpati on different days. Many people immerse Ganesha on 1 day and some people immerse Ganesha on 5 days. But most people prefer to immerse Ganesha on the occasion of Anant Chaturdashi after 10 days.

But do you know why people immerse Bappa in water after keeping him with so much love for 10 days? In today's article, we will tell you why Ganesha is worshipped on the day of Anant Chaturdashi.

Why does it dissolve in water?
According to mythological beliefs, Maharishi Ved Vyas first worshiped Lord Ganesha before composing the Mahabharata. He invoked Bappa to compose the Mahabharata. The Mahabharata is believed to have been written by Maharishi Ved Vyas, but it was written by Lord Ganesha.

Actually, Lord Ganesha's handwriting was so sharp and beautiful that no one could write like him. So Maharishi requested the Lord to help him. It is believed that when Maharishi invoked Lord Ganesha and prayed to him to write the Mahabharata, the Lord accepted his request. But for this, Ganesha put a condition before him.

Lord Ganesha placed a condition,
Bappa said that once I start writing I cannot stop, if Kalam starts writing he will not stop, if he stops then I will not write. Maharishi accepted Bappa's condition. But he also said that it is possible that while speaking a shloka may be mispronounced, so you should also understand the shloka and then write it.

This great book was written in 10 days
It is possible that very few people know that this great text was written in these 10 days. Lord Ganesha kept writing for 10 days. During this time he was forbidden to even drink water. But he was very tired.

Seeing the rising temperature of Bappa's body and to relieve his fatigue, Maharishi applied mud on Bappa's body. He worshipped Lord Ganesha on the Chaturthi of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month.

But after some time the clay paste dried up and his body became stiff. This is why Lord Ganesha is also known as Parthiva Ganesha.

But when the writing was completed 10 days later on Anant Chaturdashi, Bappa's body temperature was still the same. Maharishi Vedvyas noticed that Ganesha's body temperature was not coming down, so he immersed Ganesha in water to cure him and prevent his temperature from rising further. This is the myth behind Ganpati Visarjan.
