Kishanganj, 15 July (HS). On one hand, while attempts are being made to spread religious frenzy and hatred in the society, on the other hand, pictures of social harmony are also emerging, which give relief. One such picture has come from Kishanganj district. Here, women of the Hindu community make Tazia for Muslims on the occasion of Muharram and these Tazias are offered in the field of Karbala when the wishes of the people of the Muslim community are fulfilled.

In Kishanganj district of Muslim-dominated Bihar, Muslim women make earthen stoves on the occasion of Chhath Puja, a festival of folk faith, while Hindu women make Tazia on the special occasion of Muharram for Muslims. Tazia has special significance in Muharram. According to the Islamic calendar, the first month of the Arabic year is called the month of Muharram. Muharram means the month of respect for the grief of Hussain. In this month, Prophet Hazrat Mohammad Saheb's grandson Hazrat Imam Hussain and his family and companions were martyred by Yazid's army after torturing them a lot. Muharram is celebrated in memory of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain and his companions during the battle of Karbala.

According to a tradition, some people of the Muslim community make wishes on the occasion of Muharram. After the wish is fulfilled, the person who made the wish has to roam around several villages with a Tazia. A Tazia is needed for this. Dozens of Hindu families of the town of Kaliaganj in the Pothiya block of Kishanganj district have been making this Tazia for many years.

Hindu families who make Tazia say that this is their ancestral business. More than three hundred Tazia are sold on the occasion of Muharram. They said that there is a different kind of happiness in selling Tazia and earning a living as well as helping in religious work. At the same time, people of the Muslim community say that on the occasion of Muharram, people buy Tazia from this village and offer it after their wish is fulfilled. There is no discrimination among us. We show unity in the entire country by participating in each other's festivals with mutual brotherhood.
