Patna, 05 August (HS). Eight Kanwar pilgrims died due to electric shock in Vaishali district of Bihar. This accident happened on Hajipur-Jandaha road on Sunday night around 11:45 pm. About six people are also reported to have suffered burn injuries. SDPO (Sadar) Om Prakash has confirmed this.
SDPO Om Prakash has said that the Kanwariyas of Sultanpur village under Industrial Police Station were carrying a DJ. The DJ was quite high. During this, the DJ came in contact with the electric wire. Due to this, eight people died due to electric shock and some people got burnt.
Eyewitnesses say that the music system (DJ) was placed on a tractor trolley. The accident took place near Baba Chauharmal near Naiper Gate. SDPO Omprakash says that all the deceased have been identified. All were residents of nearby Sultanpur village. Their names are Ravi Kumar son of Dharmendra Paswan, Raja Kumar son of late Lala Das, Naveen Kumar son of late Fudena Paswan, Amresh Kumar son of Sanoj Bhagat, Ashok Kumar son of Mantu Paswan, Chandan Kumar son of Chandeshwar Paswan, Kalu Kumar son of Parmeshwar Paswan and Ashi Kumar son of Mintu Paswan.
These Kanwar pilgrims were returning with water from Pahelaja Ghat to perform Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva on the third Monday of the month of Sawan. They had to perform Jalabhishek at Baba Hariharnath temple this morning. District Magistrate Yashpal Meena reached the hospital as soon as he got the information about the accident. He inquired about the accident and the burnt people. At present, Umesh Das's son Rajiv Kumar is undergoing treatment at Sadar Hospital. Some people who were burnt in the accident were discharged after first aid.
