Ballia, 23 October (Hindustan Reporter). Before Diwali, during checking of trains at Ballia Railway Station, GRP has recovered 750 live cartridges from the bag of a twenty year old girl from Varanasi-Chhapra passenger train. The police have arrested the girl.
Deputy Superintendent of Police GRP Gorakhpur Range Savi Ratan Gautam said on Wednesday that information was received that a girl was going to Chapra from Varanasi-Chhapra passenger train with a huge quantity of cartridges. GRP started checking in the train. A girl was sitting on a train seat and she had a trolley bag under her seat.
When the girl was questioned about that trolley bag, she claimed that the bag was hers. When the bag was searched, 750 live cartridges of 315 bore were recovered from it. Later the girl was arrested. The girl told during interrogation that she was taking this cartridge to Chapra, which was to be given to someone in Chapra. This bag was given to him by Ankit Pandey, a resident of Karimuddinpur police station in Ghazipur. He said that the girl is being arrested and sent to court. On the other hand, there are also speculations that these cartridges could have been sold to Naxalites. Even a month ago, about eight hundred and fifty live cartridges were recovered from Ballia Railway Station.
