Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali has given his opinion on the whole matter, according to Imtiaz who attended the IFFI program, it is not very beneficial. He said that he also hears many such stories where the fear of compromise in exchange for work is ingrained in the minds of people. But as far as he knows, no one ever succeeds with this shortcut.
There’s no point in compromising
Imtiaz said- I see that I have been a director in the Hindi film industry for 15-20 years. I’ve heard a lot about casting couch, or whatever you call it, when a young woman comes in for work, she’s intimidated. It is not that the one who compromises will definitely get the role. There will be many exploiters. Only if a girl can say no and respect herself, will any other man respect her. This way, getting a job and moving forward cannot support you throughout your life. How much talent you have is very important.
Imtiaz further said – Because I and many others wonder whether we are taking this person seriously.
Imtiaz further said – Because I and many other people also wonder whether we are taking this person seriously or not. Do I have enough respect for the guy to cast him? It is a misconception that if you compromise, your chances in the film industry will improve. I have seen it. The one who compromises also compromises his career.
Imtiaz said- I have a journey. I have worked in small town as well as big city. I have also done theatre, then I came into films. Believe me, the way Mumbai film industry treats its women is highly commendable. If 200 people work in a film unit then it is very safe. Let me explain to you by giving the example of my film. There was a scene where Kareena is sleeping on the upper berth but before the scene starts the lightman says that more lights will be needed here.
